The Ministries of Culture of Russia and Oman have agreed to expand tourist cooperation between the countries. This became known following talks between the head of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Olga Lyubimova, and the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman, Salem bin Mohammed al-Mahrouki, held in Muscat, the capital of Oman.
The key achievement of the meeting was the agreement to open a tourist representative office of Oman in Russia. This will make it possible to more effectively promote the sultanate as an attractive destination for Russian travelers. In addition, the parties intend to establish cooperation in the areas of developing tourism potential and attracting investment.
In the near future, Russia and Oman will develop a joint program that will include meetings and events with the participation of interested companies from the private sector. The aim is to open up new areas for bilateral cooperation in tourism.
In addition, Lyubimova and Al Mahrouki discussed the promotion of the Russian Seasons project, which will be held in Oman in 2024. The concept of the event will be reviewed. Oman is also looking to strengthen ties with Russian museums following its successful cooperation with the State Hermitage Museum.
Lyubimova expressed confidence that joint cultural projects with Oman will become a highlight of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries in 2025.
It is worth noting that in December 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Sultan of Oman Haisam bin Tarek al-Sayyid to visit Russia in 2024. The Russian leader noted the positive dynamics of trade and economic ties, despite the still modest volume of trade turnover.
